Here's a brand-new ball game concept:
Game Title: Orbigo
Overview
Orbigo is a fast-paced, team-based ball game that combines elements of volleyball, dodgeball, and capture-the-flag. It’s played on a circular field with three teams competing simultaneously. The objective is to gain points by controlling the central orb and hitting goals placed in opposing teams' zones, while also defending your own.
---
Basic Setup
* Players: 3 teams of 4 players (12 total on the field)
* Field: Circular arena, 30 meters in diameter, divided into 3 equal “zones” (like pizza slices). At the center is the Core Zone, a 5-meter circle.
* Equipment:
* 1 large, semi-heavy “Orbigo Ball” (about the size of a basketball but weighted slightly heavier)
* 3 colored goals (1 per team), which are hoop-style targets mounted 2 meters off the ground, placed at the outer edge of each team’s zone.
---
Objective
Score points by throwing the Orbigo Ball through the goal of one of the other two teams. Teams also earn points by controlling the core zone.
---
Gameplay Mechanics
1. Starting Play: The ball is placed in the center of the core zone. One player from each team starts in the center for a sprint-start faceoff.
2. Movement:
* Players can move freely within any zone but cannot carry the ball for more than 5 seconds or 5 steps (whichever comes first).
* Passing, bouncing, or rolling the ball is allowed.
3. Scoring:
* 3 points for scoring through another team’s goal.
* 1 point every 30 seconds for controlling the core zone (your team has at least 2 players in the core zone, with no opposing players present).
* First team to 30 points wins, or most points after 15 minutes.
4. Defense:
* Players can block or intercept passes.
* Soft contact only —tagging or touching is allowed, but no tackles or aggressive shoves.
* If hit by a “defensive deflect” (a slap-away or tip), possession changes.
5. Turnover Rule:
* If a team scores on another team’s goal, the defending team must sit one player for 30 seconds (“overload penalty”).
* This gives a temporary advantage to the scoring team and adds strategic tension.
---
Unique Twist
Orbigo Wildplay:
Once per game, a team can call a 1-minute “Wildplay,” during which:
* Goals are worth double points.
* The core zone awards 2 points every 30 seconds.
* Only the team that activated it can score.
---
Why It’s Unique
* Three-team dynamic: Forces alliances and betrayals.
* Constant movement and zone control: Encourages strategic positioning.
* Time-based control mechanic: Adds depth beyond scoring.
