Sound-insulation concept that can be easily attached to walls, ceilings, and floors
Below is a sound-insulation concept intentionally designed to be:

* Ultra-easy to install
* Surface-mounted (no wall opening)
* Usable on walls, ceilings, and floors
* Mass-producible
* Thin enough for retrofits and rentals

This system complements (not replaces) the QuietCore™ wall-integrated system.

---

System Name

QuietSnap™ Universal Acoustic Overlay

---

Core Idea

QuietSnap™ is a clip-on / lay-down acoustic overlay system that creates a floating sound-absorbing and damping layer on any surface without construction.

Instead of structural modification, it uses:

* Constrained-layer damping
* Micro-decoupling
* Edge isolation
* Broadband absorption

---

System Overview

Total Thickness

* Walls / Ceilings: 18–22 mm
* Floors: 25–30 mm (walkable version)

---

1. Universal Acoustic Tile

Standard Module Sizes

* 600 × 600 mm (primary)
* 600 × 1200 mm (walls)
* Custom planks for floors

Layer Stack (surface → structure)

A. Decorative Impact Layer

* PET felt, fabric, or rigid vinyl
* Textured or smooth finishes
* Washable, paintable
* NRC contribution (mid/highs)

B. Damping Core (Key Innovation)

* Recycled rubber + mineral filler
* Density-graded micro-cells
* Acts as:

* Shock absorber (impact noise)
* Vibration damper (bass)

C. Micro-Spring Decoupling Layer

* Thermoplastic elastomer lattice
* Creates 3–5 mm air gap
* Reduces structure-borne transmission

D. Magnetic / Clip Interface

* Neodymium micro-magnets or
* Snap-lock polymer clips
* Enables:

* Tool-less install
* Easy removal
* Repositioning

---

2. Installation Systems by Surface

---

A. Walls – Snap-On Grid

QuietSnap™ Wall Grid

* Thin aluminum or polymer rails
* Installed with minimal screws or adhesive strips
* Tiles magnetically attach

Advantages

* No drilling into tiles
* Tiles align automatically
* Hidden seams with acoustic overlap

STC Improvement: +10 to +18
Install time: ~1–2 hours per room

---

B. Ceilings – Clip-Suspend System

QuietHang™ Ceiling Mount

* Low-profile elastomer clips
* Tiles hang 6–10 mm below ceiling
* Optional perimeter shadow gap

Benefits

* Strong reduction of footstep noise above
* No full drop ceiling
* Compatible with lights & vents

IIC Improvement: +12 to +20

---

C. Floors – Floating Acoustic Planks

QuietStep™ Floor Variant

* Interlocking plank format
* Integrated load-bearing damping layer
* Top layer: wood, vinyl, or carpet

Performance

* Impact noise reduction: 20–30 dB
* No adhesive required
* Works over concrete or wood

---

3. Edge & Junction Treatment (Critical)

QuietEdge™ Isolation Strip

* Soft elastomer perimeter strip
* Installed at:

* Wall-to-wall
* Wall-to-floor
* Ceiling-to-wall junctions

Prevents flanking noise—often ignored in overlays.

---

4. Low-Frequency Enhancement (Optional)

BassTrap™ Slim Inserts

* 20 mm thick slot-in modules
* Installed behind tiles at corners
* Tuned Helmholtz cavities:

* 63–125 Hz

---

5. Manufacturing & Cost Efficiency

Materials

| Component | Material |
| ---------------- | -------------------- |
| Decorative layer | Recycled PET felt |
| Damping core | Rubber composite |
| Spring layer | Injection-molded TPE |
| Interface | Polymer + magnets |

Production

* Roll-to-sheet lamination
* CNC or die cutting
* Injection molding for clips
* Automated magnet insertion

Designed for high-volume production

---

6. Performance Summary

| Surface | Noise Type | Reduction |
| -------- | ----------- | --------- |
| Walls | Voices / TV | 10–18 dB |
| Ceilings | Footsteps | 12–20 dB |
| Floors | Impact | 20–30 dB |

---

7. Key Advantages vs Traditional Solutions

| Feature | QuietSnap™ | Drywall | Foam Panels |
| --------------------- | ---------- | ------- | ----------- |

8. Ideal Use Cases

* Apartments & rentals
* Home offices
* Bedrooms
* Music practice rooms
* Temporary noise control
* Urban retrofits

---

9. Optional Future Innovations

* Smart noise-reactive tiles
* Active bass cancellation tile (plug-in)
* Thermal + acoustic hybrid version
